About

Built for people who watch geysers closely.

Geyser Gazette turns live observations and historical eruption records into a map, searchable archive, daily replay, and opt-in alerts.

What the Gazette does

The Gazette helps visitors and geyser enthusiasts move between current activity and historical context. Individual geyser pages show recent records and descriptive timing patterns. The live map focuses on reported eruptions as they occur.

Community observations

Registered contributors may submit eruption observations and field notes. New reports are reviewed, corrections remain auditable, and established contributors earn trust through consistently accepted observations.

Sources and independence

Geyser Gazette contains information from GeyserTimes, made available under the Open Database License. Gazette observations are identified separately and may become the preferred public record when they match the same geyser and eruption time.

This is an independent project and is not affiliated with the National Park Service, GeyserTimes, Canon USA, Yellowstone Forever, or the webcam operators.

Webcam acknowledgement

The live streaming webcam is made possible by the Eyes on Yellowstone program funded by Canon USA, Inc. through a grant to Yellowstone Forever and by volunteer webcam operators around the United States.
