Privacy Policy
How Geyser Gazette handles account, observation, alert, and payment information.
Mobile information and SMS consent are not sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Information collected
Geyser Gazette may collect an account name, display name, recovery email address, submitted observations, moderation history, alert preferences, Discord user ID, mobile phone number, SMS consent records, and technical security logs.
How information is used
Information is used to operate accounts, publish attributed observations, moderate submissions, deliver requested alerts, verify contact details, prevent abuse, provide support, and maintain service reliability.
SMS information
Mobile numbers and SMS opt-in records are used only to provide the alert service requested by the subscriber, comply with messaging rules, and respond to HELP or STOP requests. Message frequency varies with selected geysers and settings, up to 100 messages per month for the standard SMS tier. Message and data rates may apply.
SMS consent is optional and is not a condition of accessing the live map, archive, community, or any unrelated purchase. Reply STOP to cancel and HELP for help.
Service providers
Limited information may be processed by service providers that operate essential features, including Cloudflare for delivery and security, Stripe for billing, Twilio for SMS delivery, Discord for Discord alerts, and the configured email provider for verification and recovery. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
Payments
Card details are entered directly into Stripe's hosted checkout and are not received or stored by Geyser Gazette. The Gazette stores only the identifiers and subscription status needed to manage access.
Public observations
Approved observations may display the contributor's chosen public display name. Recovery email addresses, login names, phone numbers, and billing details are not displayed publicly.
Retention and choices
Operational records are retained as needed to provide the service, preserve the provenance of public observations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. Subscribers may stop SMS messages by replying STOP and may request account assistance through the contact page.
